Tension gauge sample

Make sure to check your own tension before starting to knit.

Cast on 20 stitches and knit 35 rows with fishermans rib rep ; K1B, p, on needles 4 mm for a 10 x 10 cm sample. Wash the sample and block it, it should give a positive ease of 2 cm // 12 x 12 cm.

If tension measures too tight, change to a thicker needle.

If tension measures too wide, change to a thinner needle.

Good to know

The cardigan is knitted from top to bottom with fishermans rib from right and wrong side, the cardigan is separated by the armpits and from there the sleeves and the body are knitted separately. The sleeves are knitted in round using half fisherman’s rib stitching. The body continues by knitting from the right and wrong side. Pockets are opened in the body but knitted separately later.Cuffs for both body and sleeves are knitted with a classic rib stitch. The list on both neckline, pockets and inner linen is knitted after the cardigan has been knitted. The inner side edge of the cardigan is knitted with double knitting, by knitting for the right and wrong side separately, moving the stitches from the horizontal side over unknitted. The inner side edge is knitted onto the cardigan by knitting the last stitch from the right side together with the edge stitch on the cardigan. The inner side edge is opened up for six more button holes that are aligned with the ones on the body. The seventh and the last button hole is knitted with the list for the neckline.

Read through the pattern before starting the project. There is a helping video available on the website www.thelmasteimann,com, if in need of guidance. The video is found under the DUNAVEST.

Yarn quantity required is based on an average , and is therefore an approximate number. The cardigan can be knitted in any yarn that consists of the same thickness as Organic merino DK.
